I will be busy this weekend because my DH turns 60 Sunday! So I won't have so much time to blog and visit you all, but monday things will be back to normal so .................. Have a nice weekend and I hope you have lots of things to be thankful for, I know I have!

Animal Wednesday #28

This one is made with watercolor.
The cat looks so much like Sjimmie. Sjimmie's middle name is saucer eyes, because he really can have a very surprised look.

This one I made in Dubai with Inktense pencils.

I love the evil look in this ones eyes, but it is certainly not my Sjimmie!

Happy Animal Wednesday!

Have a nice weekend!

Came home yesterday after 2 wonderful days in Chicago.
The weather was great, sunny and even Tuesday when rain was predicted the sun was there.
I did some shopping, went to Blick's and bought a few new colors of Dr. Ph Martins and a lot of brushes.
I discovered Eddie Bauer. After flying 25 years I finally went in that store and was pleasantly surprised. I bought some nice gifts for the boys here.
Bought vitamins at Whole Foods Market, which was also a discovery. Wow, what a great shop! We don't have anything like that here.
Meanwhile I did a lot of walking (really shopped till I dropped) and saw the town again, made some video's to show here at home (terrible quality). Discovered a lot of new tall buildings which weren't in my memory of the skyline yet. And enjoyed thousands of chrysantiums and all the Halloween decorations.
I also started a watercolor mandala, which I will show soon when finished.
Have a nice weekend!

Animal Wednesday #26

Here is an update from our deer, the little babies have grown up to be little boys.

I have bought a camcorder recently and I have always said that I am a disaster with a video camera. I have used my Father's in the past and the results were horrible. I decided to give it another try. Poor you!

This take is not so long so maybe you can bear watching it.......

I will try to record the cats and doggies (yes for you Soul) later.

For now Happy Animal Wednesday!

Thankful Thursday (#19)

My friend Aulikki turned 80 this year
And she is still as young at heart as when we met 30 years ago.
Aulikki came to visit us this Monday and Tuesday.
Here she is playing Yatzee with the boys.
I am thankful for having her as my friend for such a long time.
Lisa sent me this U= for Unicorn of the sea.
First I thought it was just a magical creature, but she wrote so serious about it that I searched just in case.
And ........they really do exist.
Watch the video below and maybe you will be just as excited as I was when I saw these magical sea creatures . This is what I love about blogging, friends have always inspiring new things to share.
Thanks Lisa! I love the card (and notice the notecard made by Laurel)

I traded a card with Soul.

She is fast and I am slow, I just completed my mail and I have 6 envelops to be mailed tomorrow.

It is nearly on it's way. ;)

Thanks Soul for the tribal dress, which is gorgeous and all the extras. The bookmark is just perfect also (click to see details)

These beautiful ATC's came today, together with a lovely Moo card.
Recognize the gorgeous work of Margaret?
Notice the wonderful shimmer on the card on the right, something I didn't notice on her blog.
Thanks Margaret!
This Loot came in the mail from Lolo.
Wonderful Flower Power card just in the style of my latest ATC's.
She didn't know that, or did you Lo??
The T = for Taoist symbols is just such a pretty card.
Love , love it!
The buddha beneath is what was in the gorgeous green package. Thanks Lolo!

Hope you have a lot to be thankful for!

Mandala for Peter

This is my latest birthmandala, which I painted last month, for Peter.
I like the combination of orange and blue here and the balanced feeling of this mandala.
One of the symbols I used in Peter's Mandala is the peacock feather. In general, the Peacock is representative of glory, immortality, royalty, and incorruptibility. It is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty that can be achieved when we endeavor to better ourselves and better our lives. In history, myth, legend & lore, the peacock is considered an emblem of protection, nobility, watchfulness, guidance, and holiness. In Greco-Roman mythology the Peacock is identified with Hera (Juno) who created the peacock from Argus whose hundred eyes (seen on the tail feathers of the peacock) symbolize the vault of heaven and the “eyes” of the stars who watch all life unfolding . In Christianity the peacock represents the “all-seeing” church and the holiness & sanctity associated with it. Additionally, the peacock represents resurrection, renewal and immortality within the spiritual teachings of Christianity. In Hinduism the peacock is associated with Lakshmi who is a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and luck. Similar to Lakshmi, the peacock is associated with Kwan-yin in Japan – she is also an emblem of love, compassionate watchfulness, good-will, nurturing, and kind-heartedness. Kwan-yin chose to remain a mortal even though she could be immortal because she wished to stay behind and aid humanity in their spiritual evolution. In Babylonia and Persia the peacock is seen as a guardian to royalty, and is often seen in engravings upon the thrones of royalty.
