Can anyone tell me why this is called a Christmas Cactus? To me it looks more like a succulent........
Cactus Sjimmie wishes everyone Happy Cactus Monday!
dit lyk soos n baie mooi kersfees succulent. en sjimmie dink so ook. he is so groot nou, maar nog pragtig. hello sjimmie.en hcm cactuteer. met liefs en wfs.
Sjimmie has the right idea for Cactus Monday. I don't know why it is called a cactus let alone a Christmas cactus as the one I had for several years chose Thanksgiving to be the time of year to bloom. Happy Cactus Monday.
OH what a beauty you are Sjimmie!! Elegant, regal, gorgeousand a perfect mascot for Cactus Monday! Hmm, how could we get him to pose with our logo? (A challenge for you Marianne)
I guess it is called a Christmas cactus for the same reason Sjimmie's name is Sjimmie. Because someone wanted to call it (him) that. Now that is a politically correct answer :)
Picture purrfect!! He never takes a bad photo does he? Handsome thing :) My Christmas Cactus used to bloom in April, right around Easter! HCM marianne :)

Hi Marianne, I don't know the answer, either! Marketing does the strangest things.
ReplyDeleteYou have an award at my blog!
Happy Cactus Monday to You!
Okay, my take on this is that this Cactus has similar shape leaves to the poinsettia and the holly!
ReplyDeleteIt acquired the name because its bright red fruits and green leaves provide a colorful contrast to the brown deserts during the Christmas season.
