Mandala Workshop / Animal Wednesday

A mandala of goodies
Last Friday when I came home I gave a mini workshop for Tineke and her 2 sisters.
We made a birthmandala in watercolor pencils.
Sisters day 2010 in Zierikzee
Tineke made a mandala with just flowers
Anneke gave hers an Eastern feel.
Truus and Tineke working side by side
And this little darling came out of hiding. This beauty belongs to Tineke's son and was there for a sleepover.
I LOVE turtle cats! Tineke has a dog and a bird so the animals were well represented.
Life is so much better when animals are around...........................don't you think?

Y = for Yoga Yantra

Y= for (Yoga) Yantra
You can read here what a Yantra is.
When you follow this link you will find the meaning of this specific one.
Finally I am home................................:)
I came home Friday but had to give a mini workshop the same afternoon.
Yesterday we went for a family visit in Loosdrecht, near the water. Perfect place to be with this weather.
Summer has arrived here and it will be hot all week.
Yeah I love it!
Today I MUST do something in the garden which I have neglected in 4 weeks
I also have a lot of chores waiting for me such as laundry and tidying the place up. So again no time to blog much, but I will try to catch up with all of you this week......
Have a wonderful sunny Sunday!

Please help...................

Turtles one of my favorite animals of the sea, are in danger in the Golf of Mexico.
Danger caused by human beings.
I am participating in a fundraiser for the animals in the Gulf left to fend for themselves in this more than sticky, life-threatening situation.
These ATC's are sold for $10, all proceeds going to either The Institute For Marine Mammal Studies ( or The International Bird Rescue Research Center (
Every penny raised will go to these organizations. When the card sells we are emailed the name of the buyer/donor and we sign them and mail them with our thanks and blessings.
This idea is inspired by Kelly Light. Visit this blog at
to see what all of these wonderful artists are doing to help the cause.
Beside these turtles of mine there are so many wonderful ATC's to pick from!
I saw Lolo's beautiful post and Diana's. This inspired me to help.
Hope you will be too.
Please help to save the beautiful creatures in the once blue water...............

Happy Cactus Monday!

Here is my new cactus family member!
Given to me by Marja's son (but she helped him pick the present;))
Isn't it a gorgeous one?!
You see the other 2 are still alive....... a miracle as I am a disaster with plants in the house.
I even managed to kill my Christmas cactus..................
Well I think I can keep this one alive.
By the time this is posted I will be cycling to another island.
And will be camping (and cycling) for 5 days. For me it will be more like I am not much of a camper....the cycling part I took care off by buying a bike with electrical support.
Yes!!!!! And I am not even ashamed of it. LOL!
So I won't be able to visit my fellow cactuteers.
But I hope you will have a wonderful Cactus Monday!

W= for Watermelon

Yesterday I finished some ATC 's for the ABC ATC's around the World, which is coming to an end now.
I made the last 4 and will send them out today.
I hardly had any time to do some art lately nor will I get any these coming weeks.
Monday I will go on a school camp as a cook Mom. and the day after I return I will go to Bangkok for 7 days.
I look like a hamster today, my face is swollen (on one side) but I managed yesterday with only 3 painkillers.
The sun is shining here today!
Time for watermelons!
Have a Watermelon Weekend!

Getting mail from Lolo is always such a treat!
This is my U for Universal Kinship .
I love the idea and the artwork! Well I have to see the first thing yet I don't like from her.
Her envelopes are soooo pretty. She even has her own stamps!
And the cards and messages included warmed my heart as usual.
Thanks Lo!
This is Lynn's nun. She is doing a wonderful series of Hebrew letters for our ABC ATC's Around the World.
They are colorful and she explains them all but it seems like Chinese to me sometimes. ☺
hard to learn I guess.
Thanks Lynn, you are one talented lady!
I am preparing this post for tomorrow as I will have to go to the dental surgeon to have 2
apex resections . Guess I won't feel like blogging tomorrow and I really need to do a TT post to show you all the acts of kindness and friendship I have been receiving!
Right now I am in a roller coaster ride of fun things, well except for the dentist yesterday and the dental surgeon on Thursday...... :(
Next week I will go on school camp for 5 days to cook and have to cycle 40 km a day!
Friday I will have to do the shopping and besides a few visits planned for the weekend I have to prepare for next week.
The day after camp I will go to Bangkok for 7 days.
I know I am doing this myself......... but a blank day in my agenda would be nice.
Well the 2 days after I return from bangkok are filled already.
Any suggestions?????
Well I am thankful for being healthy and able to do all these things.
Thankful for all my (blog)friends.
For so many things..........
Hope you are too!

A Party!!!

On our way to a party............(Marja and I)
and my DH..............
Old pictures of 32 colleagues............(click to enlarge and find me 25 years ago)
It was a special day celebrating "25 years of dedication"
I met a dear colleague, we flew together 24 years ago. Karachi Singapore and a step back to Colombo and we still remember both how special the trip was. We were young and the trips long.
Together with 4 "girls" from our preliminary course.
Eveline, on my right is still a dear friend of mine after 25 years .
When we dropped Marja off we watched Beaudor's digging act.
He is such a naughty sweetheart!
It is hard to be angry with him........
You dig it?

The Year of the Tiger! + update

I made this mandala for Maureen's son born in the Year of the Tiger.
It is made with liquid watercolors and micron pen.
Are you born in one of these years:

1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998 or 2010

Then you are a Tiger.

Tiger people are sensitive, given to deep thinking, capable of great sympathy. They can be extremely short-tempered, however. Other people have great respect for them, but sometimes tiger people come into conflict with older people or those in authority. sometimes Tiger people cannot make up their minds, which can result in a poor, hasty decision or a sound decision arrived at too late. They are suspicious of others, but they are courageous and powerful. Tigers are most compatible with Horses, Dragons, and Dogs

Wow what a powerful sign!

Happy Animal Wednesday!

The desert rose was greeting me each morning outside the hotel;)
A huge Kuan Yin at the monastery we visited.
She is just my favorite.
I took this picture laying on the floor . This is the pagoda of 10.000 Buddhas.
Inside the cone shaped stupas are thousands of Buddha images.
The hall of no form where the great Buddha was.
My sweet colleague Linda (Tashi Karma ♥) and me.
I had a great time with her!
Sometimes you have this immediate click with people.
I was lucky to meet her.
Rooftop with dragons and pagoda.
The Sri Mariamman temple in Chinatown Singapore.
I have been here a couple of times before, but it is always good to return.
Please take of your shoes........
I walked behind these little Buddha broters on Orchard road and I thought it was such a sweet site.....
Yes and even how wonderful it was in the end we all wanna go home!
After a long nap I am still a bit groggy, but tomorrow I hope to be the old me again and visit you all to see what I have been missing.
