Blue Moon
A blue moon is a name given to an irregularly timed full moon. Most years have twelve full moons which occur approximately monthly, but each calendar year contains those twelve full lunar cycles plus about eleven days to spare. The extra days accumulate, so that every two or three years there is an extra full moon (this happens every 2.72 years). Different definitions place the extra moon at different times - the extra moon is called a "blue moon".

ReplyDeleteMarianne,
ReplyDeleteI really love this moon...the blue moon. It almost appears as though water droplets have accumulated on the surface. Also, thank you so much for the great information of what the blue moon really is all about...you are a wealth of knowledge.
Thanks

I just found your blog recently. I used to draw and colour mandalas myself but I haven't for a while. Looking at your mandalas, I feel inspired to take it up again. I like this one of the moon, which reminds me of looking at the reflection of the moon in water.
