Animal Wednesday

And now for something completely different..............

I painted this cow for my friend Marja as a Christmas present. We were in a restaurant and she pointed at a cow on the wall there. Uttered her wish that one day she would like to have a cow painting in her home in France.

So this was a nice challenge for my Wednesday art class.

(nearly finished, I worked some more on the nose and the grass, see picture above)

Although this is out of my comfort zone I enjoyed working on it. Perhaps as it had an animal as subject.

 I was pleased with the way it turned out.

Felix and Josje.............they were both not feeling well. Felix has a serious cold and Josje had chickenpox :(

I had a nice Christmas with the family on Christmas Eve and yesterday Josje (our granddaughter) came for lunch with her parents.

Today it's 2nd Christmas day here in Holland. But we will just stay home and enjoy being with the 4 of us.

Tried to visit some blogs but half of them won't load.........So that's why I couldn't say merry Christmas to a few of my blog friends :(

I am having a lot of PC problems here lately I have to figure out whether it is our new modem , the connection or my PC....... Have to look into that, but I am not in the mood for that right now.

For my dear friend

(2009)

In 2009 I made this Christmas card.

A while ago a dear friend of mine asked if she could use the image on her funeral card when she died.

I made her an original inspired on the Christmas mandala.

On Monday I received the card with my own mandala on the back of it.

(2012)

Today she will be cremated.

I know she is at peace now. As she always was, in this life as well.

I am happy she is no longer in pain. I will miss my special friend.

I know little people who are so full of love and positivity as she was.

She was a one in a million..............

 She has been my son Lars's speech therapist for over 9 years. Someone who believed in him
and loved him.
That's how we became friends.
I will be forever grateful that she came in his life and mine.

 My dogs adored her, well I must say everyone who met her did.

The day she told me the bad news. Last July.

Christmas 2012 Giveaway

I have been busy making Christmas cards and I designed this one to celebrate the birth of Hindi.

Hindi will stay with her Mom in our yard.

Farah is born in 1995

so for the 2 nines I used  my favorite lotus petals in rainbow colors.

The lotus flower is one of the most ancient and deepest symbols of our planet. The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Untouched by the impurity, lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind. The lotus flower represents long life, health, honor and good luck.

Farah step 1

 this mandala I finished a while ago, but tonight Farah will get this mandala as a St. Nicolas gift from her mother, so I can finally show it.

Well at least the beginning  of it.

Farah is born on the 29th. 

In the middle the 2 in orange , a sun and a moon.

For the 9 a rainbow star.

Together they form the sun moon and stars.

The 9 points star symbolizes success, stability, and positiveness.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Here we have nothing but rain.......well and some hail.

But I had a good weekend.

Lars is home and we decorated the house for Christmas, Felix baked cookies today and I worked on a mandala and groomed the doggies. I was happy that I didn't have to go anywhere. This weather is perfect to be inside and get things done.

Too bad the yard is turning into a mud pool......  :( Happy the deer have a shed which is dry.
