ATC on bristol board. I saw these ATC cards in Montreal and had no idea what it was so I bought it.
Clear it is not meant for watercolor, what I used here.......
Does someone know what Bristol Board is used for?
Happy Cactus Monday!
This is ultra good, Marianne!!! I love it. I have heard of Bristol Board, but have no ideas about it at all...will have to go investigate!!! Happy CM!!! P.S. LOVE your Trollbeads!!!
i think the watercolours are great. nope no idea what it is, does it come from bristol here in the uk?? i know one of our cactuteers will know. hcm fellow cactuteer.
HCM! I have heard of bristol board, and tried to get it, to try. I have seen illustrators use it. I thought it came in large sizes only, so Lisa is right about you being lucky to get it. Good luck experimenting with it. You would not know that the watercolours did not work too well on it. This cactus and flower are gorgeous.
This is beautiful Marianne!! I use bristol Board a lot...I love it actually! Mostly I do my acrylic paint and colored pencils on top when using it. If you get the vellum finish bristol board, that takes watercolors a bit better. It has a little more tooth. It's fabulous for pen and ink though. I just bought a 6x6 square pad of bristol board and got very excited when I saw that size! HCM my dear!!!
I can feel the bit of fresh light yellow green complimenting the sweet cactus bloom. I have no idea but after reading the comments here, I learn along with you all blogger friends:) Happy Cactus Monday and Marianne you are just so lucky!
What a great thread-I just saw Bristol Board at the art store, remembered reading "on Bristol Board" on something Lolo did, and wondered how to find out more about it. Here it is!
I love the cactus on bristol board-it works for me!
Jerry's Artarama has Bristol Board ATC packs that you can buy either in single packs or in volume for a discount...I love them for ink drawings...This ATC is beautiful Marianne!
Bristol Board is used for line drawing, pen and ink. In the days before computers, graphic artists used it for their final camera art, technical drawings...
It has minimal bleed, so you get a very crisp line. Lovely to do Zentangules :-) Your drawing is crisp and clean, which makes the color sparkle... lovely. Have a HCM!

I love Bristol Board, but not for watercolor/gouache. It's really great for pencil, charcoal, and ink work. I have used wet media on it before and it's ok but wet-media paper is a much better surface for paint.
